Classroom Expectations:

1. Be Respectful

2. Be Responsible

3. Work Hard

I hold the same high expectations for each and every one of you - you all have the capability of showing maturity, motivation, and a positive work ethic. All guidelines, rules, and policies that are stated in the VIT junior/senior handbook apply to this classroom.

All grades in this class will be calculated on a ten point scale, 90 - 100 being an A and so on.

No cell phones, IPods, etc.

Evaluation & Class Participation:

Class participation is extremely pertinent to this class. Everyone will have differing opinions and interesting ideas about the material we read and write, so speak up!
The more you vocalize your thoughts and opinions, the easier the task will become. Listening skills are also an important aspect of this class - listen and build upon the ideas of your peers and instructor. Class participation includes attitude and attention level, as well as spoken expression. Remember this is a safe and respectful environment, all inquiries, insights and estimations are welcome and encouraged.

Along with your participation, you will be evaluated on your understanding of literary and similar concepts through a variety of assessments, including quizzes, tests, writing assignments, presentations, and of course our old friend: The Reading Program.

Required Everyday Class Materials

Failure to bring required items to class EVERYDAY will result in loss of participation points.
